Jo Fyfe/Gay Waldman, First Night Artists
Jo Fyfe/ Gay Waldman, First Night Artists Jo Fyfe
Born in Omak, WA, Jo Fyfe has been strongly influenced by the heritage of the Plains and Plateau Indians, and especially that of Chief Joseph and his people. Jo's interest is in the spirituality of the Native American, both past and present, rather than an imitation of the surface facades of the "Western Art" theme. The unique position of the Indian in American History has served as a catalyst for her artistic expression; however, she continues to explore new materials and imagery. Many of her more recent works illustrate the times that she spent with her family: fishing, hiking, camping, gardening, and in the "outdoors" watching and observing nature. Narrative is often hidden within the images. All of her life experiences, no matter how great or how small, impact the images in her works. Gay Waldman Gay's artworks are journeys of photographic possibilities. Her images are all created through photographic alterations encompassing hand-coloring with pencils, pastels and digital manipulation. Some images emerge from film and others digitally.By viewing her artwork, you will witness her intrigue with organic flowing lines of leaves, petals, shadows, and the occasionally the balance between nature and architecture. She is captivated by pushing the photographic manipulation process by using Adobe Photoshop CS2 and Corel Painter IX. She draws, paints and adds enhancements to her images using a Wacom tablet with her PC. Gays finished artworks vary from recognizable to abstract. Visit her on-line gallery at www.waldmanphotos.com.
